Coaches relieved of their duties

Earlier today, Chicago informed bench coach Andy Cury and pitching coach Ipe Slagboom that will not be retained for the 2057 season.

Curry has been with Chicago since 2054, becoming Alberto Sanchez’s right hand man on the staff. Heading into 2056, Curry was considered the “manager in waiting” within the organization. Over the course of 2056, members of the front office had concerns with Curry’s ability to manage a group of men.

Slagboom came to Chicago last season as an interim pitching coach. After a strong performance, the organization kept him for the 2056 season, with hopes he would become the long term pitching coach. His release was not performance related, but rather the organization wants to move forward with Tito Lozano as pitching coach. Lozano is a former Chicago 1st round pick, retiring after 2055 to start a coaching career. Chicago is very high on Lozano and believe he can be their long term pitching coach, taking the staff to new levels.

Sanchez Parts Ways with Chicago

Veteran manager Alberto Sanchez and the Chicago Black Sox have mutually agreed to part ways. Rumors started last week that Sanchez would not be managing in 2057, but sources confirm it wasn’t until earlier today that the two sides finalized the decision.
Sources say that Chicago was planning to keep Sanchez around the organization in an advisory role, but Sanchez was not pleased with that solution. Sanchez requested to be let out of his contract, which Chicago agreed to.

With Sanchez gone, Chicago will now open an expansive search for his replacement. There are plans to interview several internal candidates. One person to keep an eye on is Chris Stone. Stone is just 23 years old and has limited managerial experience, but Chicago seems very high on his potential.
