Chicago, November 9, 2051 - Following Chicago's woeful 73-89 season, it was clear that changes were coming. Unfortunately for fans, those changes -- announced at the conclusion of the Monty Brewster Memorial Series -- were not the right ones. Three coaches were summarily dismissed:
Owner Vitale responds to suggestions that he fire the GMBut left untouched were the team's manager, Dave Schroeder, and GM, Mike Dunn. According to sources, owner Vinnie Vitale decided to give this dynamic duo one more season to turn the team around. "2052 will be make or break for those guys," said one insider.
Word of this immediately reached the twittersphere, where die hard fans immediately unleashed their collective anger that three coaches were axed while Dunn and Schroeder survived. Here's one such vent, from Tillie Taldowesky, president of the Southside Slobs fan club:
In related news, 1B Aarnoud Budding announced that he will be declining his 2052 player option, worth $15 million. "I'm getting the fork out of here," Budding said. Budding had a great bounce back year in 2051, posting 37 home runs and an even 100 RBI, leading the team in both categories. "Aarnoud will become a free agent and looks forward to playing for a team that has its shit together," said his agent, Dick Puller.
