Hot Take
Way to come up small, boys.
The Sox have been slowly clawing their way back towards .500 after their disastrous 0-6 in Week 2, and were poised to poke their heads into the heady atmosphere of winning baseball this week.
All they had to do was take the last game of the week. They were at home facing Twin Cities with their Ace, Amayas Moelling, on the mound.
Lookin’ good, right?
Uh … wrong.
Instead of stepping into the moment, Moelling stumbled … not terribly … but he didn’t exactly dominate, either: 3 runs (2 earned) in 6.0 IP, 3 walks, 3 Ks. Then usually-reliable Paul Kemp came on in relief … and gave up 4 hits and 2 runs in 2 IP. Then on came closer Gilberto Sosa … inexplicably, in a non-save situation … and he yielded 3 runs on 2 hits in 1 IP.
When the dust cleared, Twin Cities had batted the Sox around like a cheap River Monster toy and taken the game 8-4.
So, the Sox had to settle for a 4-2 week and enter May with a sub-.500 record.
Like we said before: way to come up small, boys.
The Week Ahead
1 Game vs Twin Cities at Chicago
3 Games at Seattle
2 Games vs San Fernando at Chicago
