Hot Take:

Ah, the agony of early season baseball.

All it takes is one lousy week and your fortunes nosedive. One week you’re a couple games over .500, challenging for a wildcard spot without a care in the world, and the next you’ve gone 2-5 and no one even wants to remember that Chicago even has a BBA franchise.

The only couple of things worth noting last week (beyond the team’s general suckitude) were Hao Hang’s slight uptick in production (see Heroes of the Week for specifics) and the BBA commissioner’s office doing the Sox a solid by barring SP Luis Gonzáles from taking the field for the next six days.

Chicago might extend that ban a bit, given that Gonzáles is 2-3 with a 7.83 ERA and a 7.80 FIP on the season. The Sox might use an opener/follower combination of some sort, or throw a start to two-way player Paul Kemp, who’s pitched 12.1 innings in relief so far this year without allowing a run.

Either way, they can’t do worse than Gonzáles.

We could prattle on about this and that, but the Sox hardly seem worth the effort at this point.

So, we’re gonna grab a case of Sun King Wee Mac, kick back, and look forward to football season …
