Beloit, Wis. - The Beloit Blue Sox demonstrated the art of the bounce-back in Week 17 of their AA Warren Cox League schedule.
After going 2-5 the week before, Beloit stormed back to a 5-1 record and stretched its division lead back to 6 games over second place St. Joseph.
“We needed a week like that,” said Manager Javier Montero. “The key is not to succumb to a losing mentality. If you have a bad week, like we did in Week 16, you’ve gotta come back strong – and we did that.”
They’ll be pushing on ahead without one of their top players, though: OF Riccardo Torres (.333/.440/.580, 18 HR and 69 RBI) was promoted to Chicago on July 27 to give the Black Sox some more pop off the bench.
OF Pete McGrath (.303/.425/.642) was brought in from Carolina to take Torres’ roster spot.
