Beloit, Wis. – The Beloit Blue Sox look serious about defending their AA Warren Cox League crown, as they went undefeated in Week Three of their schedule.
Beloit completed a sweep of the Duluth Dragons (Calgary) by taking the finale of their three-game home series, then caravanned to Burlington and swept a three-game series from the Big-Eyed Fish. The Sox finished out the week by taking the first two of a home series against the Frederick Travelers (Charm City).
Hot hands included SP Ichchaam Chepchumba (1-0, 7.1 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 7 Ks), SP/LF Paul Kemp (1-0, 7.2 IP, 10 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks and 4 Ks) and Catcher Tierney Care (.412/.500/.588 in 5 games and 17 AB).
The Beloit pitching staff threw two shutouts and two 1-run games last week in a dominant display.
“It’s a credit to our players and to our new pitching coach, William Neal, who’s settled in very nicely,” said Manager Javier Montero. “I look forward to seeing what he can do over a full season.”
Beloit held the No. 1 spot in the Cox League’s power rankings for last week.
