About: Second Baseman
Damn it, Benny. I'm typing these things as fast as I can. I didn't know speed-typing was a job requirement, or I'd have taken a class.
Here's a roundup of our second basemen and top prospects:
Second Basemen
Player | Level | Ovr/Pot | Contact | Gap | HR Power | Eye | Avoid K's | Pos. Rating | Range | Error | Arm | DP |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
R. Wattson | Majors | 75/80 | 7/7 | 8/9 | 7/8 | 4/4 | 7/7 | 9 | 9 | 7 | 3 | 7 |
J. Silva | AAA | 50/50 | 6/6 | 9/9 | 3/3 | 5/5 | 7/7 | 8 | 8 | 6 | 5 | 7 |
J. Cote | AA | 40/45 | 5/5 | 7/7 | 4/4 | 6/6 | 5/5 | 8 | 7 | 9 | 5 | 9 |
And even though it's short, it's not bad. Wattson is a fine player, even though we'd like to see more from him at the plate. He slashed .254/.323/.454 with 28 homers and 97 RBIs while playing a first-rate second base. So, no, there's no need for a change here. We've been investing in our big-league coaches, so let's hope some of that pays off in the form of Rocky fulfilling his potential.
His facial hair, meanwhile, remains bleeding edge.
Silva and Cote, meanwhile, are solid little prospects who could certainly tide us over if need be. Neither of them will be stars, but neither of them will embarrass us, either.
The main thing here, though, is to keep Wattson on an upward development path and happy to keep wearing black pinstripes. In a year or two, we'll add 2B to the list of positions where we need to re-stock.
Let me know if you have questions.
