Asst. GM Bill McGuffin (speaking with media manager April Skowron): Hey, all I know is that his name is Benny Vitale. He’s some kind of relative, although I don’t think he’s a brother. I’ve met Vinnie’s brother, and his name is Gino.
April Skowron: Maybe he’s a cousin or something?
McGuffin: Could be. Didn’t Vinnie give you any details?
GM Benedetta Vitale
McGuffin: So that’s all we know?
Skowron: That’s it.
McGuffin: Did he say anything more about what happened with Caleca?
Skowron: Nothing except to say “I fired his ass.”
McGuffin: Huh. Vic says he quit …
Skowron: Yeah, that’s what I heard, too. Vinnie’s adamant that he fired him, though. Not that it matters … he’s gone.
McGuffin: Yeah. I’ll kinda miss him. But the man couldn’t make a trade to save his life …
Skowron (laughs): No, that’s for sure.
McGuffin: Vic said there's something weird about Moelling's contract that was gonna need to be fixed. He didn't say anything else, so I'm not sure what's up with that. When we're done here, I guess I'll need to look into it.
Skowron (shakes her head): Yeah. Can't help you there. Why would I know anything? I'm just the media liaison.
McGuffin (laughs, then looks at his iPhone): Well, it’s almost 1 p.m. Where is this guy?
(At the entrance to the conference room, a tall young woman with short blond hair and wearing a sophisticated pink business suit walks in with an air of quiet confidence. McGuffin walks over to meet her).
McGuffin: Good afternoon, ma’am. I’m sorry, this is a private meeting for Black Sox employees. We’re waiting to meet our new general manager.
Confident young woman: Ah. Well, you just met her. My name is Benedetta Vitale. But you can call me Benny.
