Hot Take: Taking 2 of 3 from the Hawks is certainly better than last week’s split, but you still wish the Sox could muster up a sweep every now or then. Which leads us to whether the team should make some switches in the outfield. It’s no secret that the Sox had discussions with Omaha awhile back about acquiring Andre Ly, but those talks ultimately went nowhere. So what’s plan B? Rumor has it that serious consideration is being given to bringing Hao Hang up from AAA Carolina and starting him in RF, with Manny Cleide moving to center and Fernando Reyes remaining in left. Jim Lorenzen, who never has been able to figure out how to hit BBA pitching, would go back to the minors for some more seasoning, and Keith Sánchez would provide spot starts in left and center and defensive help in later innings. Hang has hit like a house afire at every level so far, and coaches think it’s time to give him a crack at the majors. The only holdup has been his defense – RF is a new position for him, and it’s taken awhile for him to get up to speed. He’s still below average in right, but the Sox may be willing to sacrifice on that end in exchange for another heavy-duty bat in the lineup. We’ll see what the next week or two bring …
