Beloit, WI – The Beloit Blue Sox slipped a bit in Week 9 of their AA schedule, going 3-4 over the stretch.
They began the week by taking the last 2 of a 3-game set against the Columbus Brown Sox (Wichita), then dropping 2 of 3 on the road against the Newton Falls Flying Tigers (Long Beach). Beloit ended the week by losing the first 2 of a home series against the Charleston Clippers (Vancouver).
The highlight of the week was a 12-10 slugfest victory over Columbus on May 26, which featured a record-setting performance by 2B David Gray.
Gray hit three home runs on the day, tying the league record for most dingers in a game. He hit a 3-run shot in the 2nd inning; a grand slam in the 5th, and a solo homer in the 7th.
On the day, he was 3-4 with 3 runs scored and 8 RBIs, which set a team record for most runs batted in for a game.
