Game 1 Notables: Now here’s a sentence you don’t see often: Sox Of Keith Sánchez went off in this game. That’s right, defensive specialist Sánchez cleaned up at the plate, going 2-5 with two home runs, 2 runs and 5 RBIs in a rare start. And how’d the Sox do? They lost, of course, because they were playing Yellow Springs, and they don’t beat Yellow Springs. Don’t believe us? OK. Here you go: last season, the team’s first back in Chicago, the Sox went 3-11 against the Nine. But Chicago’s better this year, right? A big surprise in 4th Place!!! Well, spoiler alert, this season the Sox are 0-3 against Yellow Springs, and shaping up to do even worse than last year. So don’t get us started. As team owner Vinnie Vitale would say, it’s the curse of the Yellow Snow … Player of the Game: Keith Sánchez, inexplicably … Cliché of the Game: "I believe in our guys," said Yellow Springs skipper Bill Inkster. "I like the energy they're playing with." Of course you do, Bill. We, on the other hand, are sticking with the curse theory …

Game 2 Notables: Speaking of which … In this absurd outing, three Yellow Springs pitchers – including SP Luis Colón, who had an ERA of 6.18 on the year at the end of this game – combined for a 1-stinkin’-hitter. That’s right. One. We know you’re dying to know: who got the hit? It was RF Manny Cleide, who mashed a 2-out double in the 6th inning, and advanced no further … the only good news, if you can call it that, to come out of this train wreck of a game, was Amayas Moelling threw 3.0 innings of scoreless relief with no hits, no walks and 2 Ks. He appeared in the previous night’s game, too, and retired the only batter he faced. That means in two games he lowered his ERA to 8.49. Let that sentence sink in for a bit. The supposed ace of Chicago’s starting staff has been demoted to long relief and has lowered his ERA to 8.49. See? This is why we can’t have nice things … Player of the Game: George Robertson, Yellow Springs DH, who was 1-3 with a homer, 1 run and 3 RBIs … Cliché of the Game: "I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Robertson. "And not try to do too much." Speaking on behalf of the Chicago fan base, we’d appreciate it if you’d do even less, George.

Game 3 Notables: Hey … how about if we wind this series up with, supposedly, one of our best relief pitchers blowing a lead, blowing a save, and losing the game by allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, and a walk in 0.1 IP? Way to go Frits Brinson. Safe to say you won’t be repeating last year’s All-Star Game appearance, what with your 5th blown save and 9.30 ERA … Want to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a bit of good news, though? No? Well, we’re giving it to you anyway: Moelling appeared once again in relief, going 1.2 innings and allowing no hits, no runs and no walks … That ERA plunged all the way down to 8.16. Sheesh. Player of the Game: François Mangin, Chicago SP, who went 6.0 innings, allowing 4 hits, 0 walks and 3 runs. He must’ve paid off the official scorer to get Player of the Game honors, is all we can say … Cliché of the Game: Luis Peña, Yellow Springs SS, who hit a 2-run triple off Brinson in the bottom of the 7th to put the Nine on top, said he was "thrilled" to give the fans some excitement. On behalf of Sox nation, Luis: Shut up.

In Sum: Well, shit.
