Game 1 Notables: We feel faintly nauseous … what could be the problem? Not anything we ate, certainly … Oh wait. We know – Portland’s in town! That’s enough to make anyone sick … This one went into extra innings and didn’t end until the bottom of the 12th, when RF Manny Cleide hit an RBI-single for the walk-off win … SP Manuel Peña kept the Lumberjacks pretty much under wraps as he threw 6.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run and 1 walk while striking out 4. Game 2 Notables: Ick. A split with Portland – speaking of nauseating. Sox batters had trouble getting anything going against Lumberjacks SP Bengt de Meza, who went 7.0 innings and allowed 4 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk while striking out 2. PQS score: 2 … DH Aarnoud Budding provided what little offensive spark the Sox could muster, going 1-4 with a 2-run homer in the 3rd innings … Player of the Game: Nikita Schipper, Portland SS, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBIs … Cliché of the Game: "If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Portland manager José Aicón.
