Game 1 Notables: SQUEEEEE! The Sox rode a solid outing from SP Juan Nicto to a winning record on the season. That’s 1 game over .500, baby. OK, OK. Calm down. Nicto went 8.0 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 runs and 6 (gulp) walks, while striking out 4. PQS score: 2 … 1B Emilio Lugo went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a 3-run homer as he drove in 6 runs on the day … Player of the Game: Emilio Lugo … Cliché of the Game: “We put it together today and out with the win,” Lugo said. “That’s the main thing.” At least you guys stopped picking each other up. Let's be thankful for small favors!

Game 2 Notables: Uh oh. Here we go. That heady over-.500 feeling lasted one day, and then the Sox ran into a Lando Klomp-shaped buzz saw. Klomp shut the Sox down for 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 0 runs and 1 walk as he struck out 5. PQS score: 5 … Player of the Game: Lando Klomp … Cliché of the Game: None … Oh come on. How lame is that? I’ll give you a cliché: The Sox can't stand prosperity. What, you guys couldn’t stand to go 2 games over .500? It’d kill ya? Sheesh.

In Sum: A series split. Coulda been worse, we guess. But coulda been better. You just gotta wonder if this means the bottom is gonna drop out again. Will Chicago go 1-6? 2-5? We have angered the gods of the diamond, we fear. Damn. Where’d that fruit basket get to?
