Monclova, Mexico – How do you follow a 2-hit shutout?
If you’re Monclova Aqua Sox pitcher Romeau Tameiro, you toss a 3-hit shutout, thank you very much.
Romeu Tameiro
In his last outing, Tameiro shut down the Berkeley Golden Bears in similar fashion, allowing one double and a single while allowing no walks and striking out 8.
“I could get used to this,” said Tameiro with a laugh after the game.
Franchise officials in Chicago hope he does.
“Romeu is closing out his season with a lot of good baseball,” said Chicago Black Sox GM Vic Caleca. “Next season, we’ll see how he does at Grand Junction against a little bit tougher competition. After that, the sky’s the limit!”
Tameiro is now 4-8 on the season with an ERA of 3.83, 59 strikeouts, 19 walks, and 1.8 WAR.
The Aqua Sox have just 5 games left in their season, but Tameiro is scheduled for one final start on Aug. 6 at Chestermere.
If trends hold, go ahead and pencil him in for a 4-hit shutout.
