Carl Pitts, an outfielder and designated hitter for the Beloit Blue Sox, was fined an undisclosed amount for missing the team bus before the AA affiliate’s May 8 game with the Columbus Brown Sox.

Although Manager Keith Russell was angry about the incident, Pitts seemed unconcerned.
“I overslept,” he told BNN. “It happens.”
Russell, however, was less nonchalant.
“It's unacceptable,” Russell said. “He (Pitts) should know better and should take responsibility for his actions. Something needs to be done to curb this behavior before it becomes a real problem. This is not part of the Blue Sox Blueprint™.”
Pitts, a 23-year-old right fielder/DH from Oakland, CA, is slashing .205/.284/.386 on the season so far, and has been in a slump since missing the bus. He’s 2-28 over the his last 7 games.
“The fine has nothing to do with it,” Pitts said. “Guys go in slumps sometimes. It happens.”
Interestingly, the team’s personality assessment concludes that “Pitts has no hustle.”
Apparently off the field as well as on.
