Game 1 Notables: SP Luis Gonzáles tore up his knee during his warm-up tosses before the fifth inning and now is lost to the Injury List for 3 months. Maybe he and Vito Reyes can play canasta … As for the game? The Sox went down to their third consecutive loss, thanks to some brutal relief pitching from Manuel Peña and Justin Archer (who allowed 3 runs each) … 1B Mark Simpson had two homers, two walks, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored … Player of the Game: Simpson … Cliché of the Game: “To all who’ve been doubting my effort – I hope they saw this game,” said Teegan Nyland, the Nashville C, who hit a 2-run single in the 7th to give the Bluebirds the lead.

Game 2 Notables: The Sox broke their latest losing streak despite a dubious starting effort from Alejandro Soto (5.2 IP, 8 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, 2 Ks, PQS: 0) … DH Tommy Cochran, who management has decided to give more playing time, responded with a big game. He went 3-5 with 2 homers, 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored … Player of the Game: Cochran … Cliché of the Game: “Baseball is about momentum, and we feel we’ve got it in our favor after that win,” said 3B Luis González, who drew a bases loaded walk in the 8th inning to bring in the go-ahead run. Oh yeah. The momentum’s palpable – all the way up to 7 games under .500!

Game 3 Notables: This one was all about Amayas Moelling, who threw 8 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball to notch his third win. PQS: 5 … Raúl Gasco made the most of a rare start in center field, going 3-4 with 2 RBIs … DH Tommy Cochran had a double, a walk and run scored … Player of the Game: Amayas Moelling … Cliché of the Game: “We’ll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow,” Moelling said.

In Sum: Can’t be too unhappy with a winning series, I guess, but losing Gonzáles was costly. He’ll likely be replaced in the rotation with Manuel Peña, saints preserve us. The Sox head out on an extended road trip now: to Omaha, Vancouver and Long Beach, all teams with winning records. That doesn’t bode well …

eee.. that's a big loss with Gonzales... especially at his age... hope he continues to develop when he gets back.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

Let's face it, there's really only room for one Luis Gonzalez/Gonzales.
