Game 1 Notables: This was Chicago’s 6th consecutive loss, and it was especially disheartening: the Sox went into the 9th with a 5-4 lead, and reliever Frits Brinson allowed two doubles and a single to gack away the game … SP Alejandro Soto pitched OK (PQS score 2) but not actually, you know, good: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 earned), 3 walks, 4 Ks … RF [ur=https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 1123.htmll]Manny Cleide[/url] had a nice game, going 3-5 with a 2-run homer and a double … Player of the Game: Cleide … Cliché of the Game: “This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy,” said Yellow Springs 1b Lucas McNeill. Oh shut up.

Game 2 Notables: Finally! A win! No thanks to SP Amayas Moelling, though, who gave up a 2-run homer in the 1st, then plunked LF Andy McKinney with a fastball to let out his frustrations. McKinney charged the mound, and both players got tossed … The bullpen came in and cooled things off, which set the stage for some long-ball heroics by catcher Diesel Dave. He mashed two homers, drove in three runs and scored twice … Player of the Game: Diesel Dave … Cliché of the Game: “We did a lot of things right,” said Dave. And a lot of things wrong, but let’s not pick nits.

Game 3 Notables: And right back into the dumper … The Sox got a decent start out of Juan Nicto (PQS score: 3), but couldn’t hit to save their lives … The less said about this one, the better we’ll feel … Player of the Game: Carlos Valle, Yellow Springs starter who went 7.1 innings, allowed 5 hits, 0 runs, and 1 walk while striking out 7. PQS score: 5 … Cliché of the Game: “We’ll savor this win,” said Yellow Springs Catcher Aaron Stone. Yeah? Yer mother wears Army boots, buddy.

Game 4 Notables: Another heartbreaker. The Sox, again, couldn’t muster much of an offense, while François Mangin pitched just badly enough to lose the game. He went 6.1 innings, allowed 8 hits and 3 runs while walking none and striking out 4. PQS score: 2 … Offensive highlights? Please … Player of the Game: Ernesto Ramos, Yellow Springs Starter, who went 7 innings while allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, and 1 walk while striking out 9 … “I had pretty good command out there,” said Ramos. Again, shut up.

In Sum: Good grief. That series was depressing.

I sense a little frustration.
