Game 1 Notables: In what’s becoming something of a trend, François Mangin threw a game that looked sort of OK, but really wasn’t. He went 7 innings, allowed 8 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), and 1 walk while striking out 2. PQS score: 1, which actually sucks. But it’s in keeping with everything else for the week, so why not? … 1B Mark Simpson and DH Emilio Lugo each had solo homers, which accounted for 100 percent of Chicago’s scoring in this one … Player of the Game: Zoraide Anto, who threw 8.0 innings with 9 hits, 2 runs, one walk and 5 Ks. PQS score: 3 … Cliché of the Game: "We put it together today and came out with the win," Anto said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." Shut up.

Game 2 Notables: SP Luis 'Viper' Gonzáles sucked a bit less than usual in this one, but not enough to carry the Sox to a win. And make no mistake: he still sucked, just a tad less than we’ve come to expect. Viper went 6.0 innings, allowed 9 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks and 5 Ks. PQS score: 3 … Offensive highlight: Are you drunk? Player of the Game: Luther Summers, Seattle SP, 7.1 IP, 6 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 7 Ks. PQS score: 5 …Cliché of the Game: "You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," said Seattle 3B José Cortés, 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and 3 RBIs. You can shut up, too.

In Sum: Sigh.
