Hot Take

Come on, Timo. Let bygones be bygones, already.

If you’re a Chicago fan, you know exactly what I’m talking about: Omaha SP Timo Dooley shut down the Sox to the tune of a 3-hit shutout on opening day. And that’s not unusual - he always seems to reach back for a little something extra when he faces us: like, for instance, the 5-hit shutout (7 Ks, 0 BB) he threw against the Sox last June 7th.

OK. OK. We get it. You’re still a little insulted that Chicago traded you and Andre Ly back in 2039 for Pavel Bure, Jr. and Luis Gonzales in the worst trade in BBA history. Hey, anyone who’s been traded for Pavel Bure, Jr. has a legitimate beef. We feel your pain.

But for your own psychological well-being, Timo, you’ve gotta let it go.

Bure (the closer who couldn’t close) is retired, Gonzales is toiling away happily in Charlotte after compiling a 5.33 career ERA for the Sox, and the GM who made the worst trade in BBA history (that Caleca bum) is now just the assistant to the assistant general manager who has to do stuff like write up previews about Des Moines (shudder).

So calm down. Have a couple of cold ones on us and let go of the resentment. Treat us like you would Twin Cities or Nashville.

And content yourself with the knowledge that, yeah, Caleca will have to preview Des Moines (shudder) again next season, too.

I don't think even GarPax would have made the bure jr trade. (Shoutout to the 3 or so people who will get that reference).

What do you expect? I’m a Cubs fan - I’m used to the Brock-for-Broglio standard ...
