The AA Beloit Blue Sox had themselves a big day during their 13-0 rout of the Weymouth Irish (Boise) on April 18.

DH Donald Gray tied the team’s all-time record for RBIs in a game with 7. The 23-year-old lefthander went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a grand-slam home run in the 7th inning off Weymouth reliever Francisco Díaz.

Gray, who normally plays shortstop, is off to a good start this season, slashing .371/.405/.629 with 2 homers and 8 RBIs.

Also of note in the game: Beloit starter José López threw a 2-hit complete game shutout with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.

López is 3-1 on the season with a 1.97 ERA with 3 walks and 24 strikeouts over 32 innings pitched.

"I told him, 'You did good today,'" said Beloit manager Keith Russell. "And I told him he'd better do good again next week."

I just had his quote tattooed on my chest. It's time to do good today and every day!

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
