Chicago’s No. 1 draft pick from last season, outfielder Hao Hang, won Player of the Week for the Class A Provost sub-league last week.
Hang, who plays for the Grand Junction Gold Sox, hit .545 (12 for 22) with two home runs and 5 RBIs for the week of April 7-13.
For the season, Hang is slashing .442/.456/.792 with 4 homers and 12 RBIs. His OPS is 1.248 and he has accumulated 1.6 WAR so far.

He was selected by Chicago (then Huntsville) in the first round of the 2039 amateur draft, and was the 16th player taken overall.
Although Black Sox scouts say Hang is already prepared to handle AAA competition, the team plans to move him along with patience.
“We don’t need to rush Hao,” said Sox GM Vic Caleca. “We want him to have a chance to fully develop his impressive skills so that, when he does reach AAA and ultimately the majors, he can make a full impact.”
Hang said he was gratified by the Player of the Week honor.
“I don’t play the game for awards – I play because I love it,” Hang said. “But I’d be lying if I said the award wasn’t nice!”
One suspects his agent would agree.
