Game 1 Notables: Well, at least he’s consistent. Starter Manuel Peña hasn’t pitched a decent game yet this season, this one included. He was touched up for 9 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) in taking his third loss against 0 wins in 2040 … 1B Mark Simpson has been of concern, too, as he went 0-4 in this game to drop his BA to .227 – not what the team had in mind when it signed him to a $77.5 million free agent contract over the winter … Player of the Game: San Fernando SP Sergei Hopkins … Cliché of the Game: San Fernando RF Luis Maldonado called the win the result of “everyone being in sync.”
Game 2 Notables: Catcher Hotha Popo had a nice game, going 1-2 with a home run, 2 walks, 2 RBIs and a run scored … SP Alejandro Soto did just enough to snag the win, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, and 1 walk while striking out 3. His PQS Score: 3 … Player of the Game: Hotha Popo … Cliché of the Game: “We put it together today and came out with the win,” said 2B Rocky Wattson. “That’s the main thing.”
Game 3 Notables: Starter François Mangin pitched OK ball, throwing 4.1 innings while allowing 7 hits and 1 run with 1 strikeout and 0 walks. His PQS Score: 1 … Reliever Frits Brinson surrendered the lead in the 7th inning, allowing 2 runs on a double, single and triple … DH Emilio Lugo continued his strong play, going 2-4 with a home run, 1 RBI, and 1 run … Player of the Game: San Fernando SP Jon Reed … Cliché of the Game: “It was a solid team effort and we’ll try to keep this momentum going,” Reed said.
Game 4 Notables: SP Juan Nicto got brutalized, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in just 1.2 innings of work … Vito Reyes came on in relief, but had to leave with a sore back after 2.1 innings, and went on the Injured List with a strained back that will keep him shelved for 2-3 weeks … C Diesel Dave had a strong game, going 3-5 with a double, a home run, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored … Chicago actually clawed back to tie the game at 9 and send it into extra innings, but closer Luis Gonzáles allowed the winning run in the bottom of the 10th on a walk and two singles … Player of the Game: Diesel Dave … Cliché of the Game: “I like our resilience,” said San Fernando second baseman Angel Garcia.
In Sum: The Sox weren’t blown out in this series, but seemed to keep falling just short. The pitching, both the starting rotation and the bullpen, has been brutal in the early going. Manager Bret Richards is said to be considering some changes to see if he can settle things down by the end of the month.

Imagine how much time you'd save over the course of your lifetime if Rocky Wattson's last name only had one 't' in it.
