The Chicago Black Sox have hired a new hitting coach for its AAA franchise in Carolina.
Young-soo Kim, of Seoul, South Korea, who’s something of an unproven commodity, replaces Michael Murphy, whose $76,000-per-year contract was not renewed at the end of the season.
Kim hired for pittance
Kim signed a two-year contract that will pay him $20,000 annually.
“Did you get a load of that salary?” asked one gleeful Sox official. “You can’t even buy a used car for that anymore. I hope that guy can live on love of the game, ‘cause he won’t be buying groceries with that paycheck.”
