Phantoms Phanatics Week in Review for Sept. 22-26

The Huntsville Phantoms went 1-3 as the season approached …

No one cares.

You again? Are you going to interrupt me every week?

Pretty much, until you shut up with this Phantoms crap.

I’m trying to preserve a historical record …

No one wants a historical record of crap.

But …

Sshh.

I want …

Sshh!

Don’t you think …

No. I have a big box of shhh here with your name on it.

(Sighs) Well, I guess you’re right. They pretty much do suck.

First worthwhile thing you’ve said today.

Roll Tide.

And that’s the second …

News and Notes

As the Phantoms wind down the 2039 season, one of their very few bright spots is that the team figures to end the year with a balance of more than $28 million – a significant improvement over last year when they finished more than $19 million in the red … Franchise management is said to be going through the roster to determine who should be protected in the upcoming BBA expansion draft to stock the new teams in Charlotte and Portland. Existing teams can protect up to 19 players with 3 years or more of professional experience. Although specifics have not leaked, word has filtered down that more than one well-known name may be left unprotected.

The AAA Carolina Flight crashed on Finals approach, losing Game 4 of the best-of-5 Rupert Horn Memorial League championship series to the Los Cabos Corsairs (Mexico City). Carolina lost the Sept. 22 game 7-4, with RP Leonardo Águila taking the loss, which gave the championship to the Corsairs. Los Cabos had earlier won games 1 and 3 of the series … On the bright side, the Flight has won its division and made the playoffs in each of the past two seasons.
