Phantoms Phanatics Week in Review: Aug. 4 – 10

This team will drive you to distraction.

No sooner do they bumble and fumble themselves into last place in their division than they rise up, go 5-2 for the week, and pull themselves to within hailing distance of .500 again.

Please, make it stop. Either be good or be bad, but don’t be both at the same time.

Our tiny little brains can’t handle the strain.

Batter of the Week

Santiago Morales, SS: 19 AB, 8 H, 1 HR, 1 RBI, .421 AVG, 1.160 OPS

Amayas Moelling, SP: 1-0, 6.2 IP, 2 R, 4 Ks, 2.70 ERA

News and Notes

Huntsville coaches were more enthusiastic about new trade acquisitions Jim Lorenzen and Juan Lozano than Assistant GM John Pruitt, who questioned the wisdom of sending INF Hakim Ngowa to California for the pair. The coaches took one look at Lorenzen, who had been toiling in Class A for California, and declared him major-league ready. Cooler heads prevailed, but the fleet center fielder was promoted to AAA Carolina and inserted into the Flight’s starting lineup. Lozano, who had been playing for California’s Short A affiliate, was adjudged ready for Huntsville’s AA team in Beloit. GM Vic Caleca intervened, though, and had him placed – for now – in Class A Grand Junction. Both players, however, seem likely to be BBA-ready sooner than originally thought … RP Justin Archer has finally come off the IL, where he has languished for the past 8 weeks with a sore shoulder. The team sent him to Carolina to work himself back into shape. He has, temporarily, taken over the closer role, with C.J. Ischade moving into a setup position. For now, it appears unlikely that Archer will resume his journal for BBA Weekly: team officials have told him in no uncertain terms that he needs to concentrate on getting himself back in game shape.

Oh, c'mon...Archer's writing would be good for his psyche and soul, and allow him to decompress after tough days rehabbing and workout out!
