Phantoms first baseman Emilio Lugo put on a record-tying power display Monday evening at the Opera House, mashing three home runs in a 13-7 blowout of Mexico City in the first half of double header.

Lugo hit a three-run homer in the 6th inning, a two-run blast in the 1st, and a solo shot in the 7th as he went 3 for 5 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He tied the Phantoms franchise record for most home runs in a game.

Joining Lugo in the power barrage were left fielder Fernando Reyes, who hit a 3-run bomb in the 7th inning, and center fielder Tim Torres, who hit a pair of 2-run blasts, one in the 1st and another in the 8th inning.

The Huntsville Phantoms took a 2-1 squeaker in the nightcap of Monday’s doubleheader, a game that stood in stark contrast to the offensive blowout of the first game.

DH Norris Rutledge provided all the scoring Huntsville would need with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning off Aztec starter Pedro Rocha. It was Rutledge’s 26th home run of the season.

Nicto went 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts, before giving way to the bullpen.

Offensive firepower came from left fielder Fernando Reyes (2-4 with a homer, an RBI and 2 runs scored) and catcher Luis Barrera (2-4 with an RBI, 2 runs, and a double).
