SOX Get New GM

Just a short time into Spring training and the Sox have a new GM, Toby Green. The Black Sox had been to the playoff 6 times 2010-2015, but have missed the playoffs the last 3 years and not really even being in contention the past 3 years so he's really got his work cut out for him.

At first glance, according to new GM, it seems they have the pitching talent, but that talent has not performed. It may be time to shake up the rotation in addition to trying to find some lefty help in the rotation. Antonio Rodriguez the Ace of the staff had one of his worst years last year giving up almost 50 runs more than the previous year (132 vs. 83). "I am really interested to dive in and see if the increase in runs given up was a mechanical issue, or a defensive issue, I've just got moved in and the first thing I did was look at the top of the rotation." said the new GM.

"Oscar Lindsey at first glance seems to be a guy hitting out of position. With his ability to avoid strikeouts, get on-base, and a good base stealer his spot may be at the top of the order." said GM. It sounds like the GM is looking to shake up this team and see if they can get back to the promised land of the playoffs. His work has just started and sounds like he's got a lot of research to do!

I don't recommend trading away starting pitching, especially premium pitching, unless you get a ton back in GOOD prospects. The Chicago GM who traded away Tom Madonald got taken to the cleaners. Catchers, first baseman, relievers, all dime a dozen stuff.

Chicago needs some direction... I'm just hoping it takes you a few years to get there as my team seems to be primed now. Good luck bud!

I don't think any moves will be trading starting pitching, My first thought is to move guys around, maybe call ups; I don't like the fact there isn't one lefty in the starting rotation. Just need to look at it, not real familiar with what I've got here yet.

You mean the #3 pick in the draft, a current top 100 player, a 10 power potential first baseman and a solid reliever? Talking about that trade?

*shrug* It's a defensible move, that's all I'm saying. It didn't turn out well, but it's a defensible move.

What is indefensible is a veteran GM taking advantage of a new GM, who is unaware of the value of players.

We can argue this trade on its merits all you want, Avery, but at the time I thought it was a fair deal, and I remain committed to that opinion. The part of the deal that made it unfair was that John Rogers has pathetically lumped, but if he were still the 9-8-8 lefty prospect he was when I drafted him, you'd have nothing to say.
