New Sox's sir? (2014-1)

Post by Fat Nige » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:13 pm

October 27th, 2014

For years now I had been happily drifting from bar to bar to bed as my ruse of putting ‘Baseball GM’ on my dole application seemed to work. Not much call for Baseball GM’s in England you see lol and all their attempts to retrain me were doomed to fail. So I quite happily spent their money round the boozers.

This week’s signing on was like every other, the guy the other side of the desk asked me loads of questions that I wasn’t listening to and he wasn’t bothered about, already ticking the ‘No’ boxes before I got bored of staring into space. I thanked him for his time, rolling my eyes, and got up to return to the pub. “Not so fast Mr Laverick !” he shouted after me. “We’ve found you a job this week”

I almost collapsed into the chair as he handed me a thick dossier marked MBWBA. “Not that bunch of shysters” I proclaimed “I’ve been there done that and they keep slinging me out.” The clerk grinned at me and told me that today then was my lucky day. “We’ve spoken to the Chicago Black Sox and they’re desperate for anyone! So here’s all your documentation & travel warrant. Good Luck! We’ll be happy to scratch you off the books ha ha”

As I sat on the plane over I looked at the folder, the thick folder of all the details about the recent years of the MBWBA. I couldn’t believe it had been six years. I also couldn’t believe that everyone I’d pencilled in to sign first, Larry Lasalle, Brett Caves, Mike Clarke, Pat Listach, Fredrick Simon, Russell Vanness, John Johnston and Sean Bockus were all retired ! They’d always served me so well, now I was going to have to learn a whole new league it seemed .....

Haha awesome article. I enjoyed it. Very cool that it's been 6 seasons since you return. Lots of new names I bet.

Bopper Kengos and Charles Puckett are still here! Kengos is declining! Puckett on the other hand just dominated the league again and won the Silk Award! We're coming after you and the Sox!

Here's a quick refresher of the last 6 years for you...

The Black Sox are pretty **** good now.

Consider yourself debriefed! I'm looking forward to battling Chris' voodoo magic with you in the coming years!
