Drafted 4th overall in the 2059 draft by the Yellow Springs Nine, Chappel was traded later that offseason in a blockbuster deal for Majd bin Nawaf. The young righty led his high school team to a state championship and was president of the ALF Club. His great great great grandfather was among those who witnessed a UFO crash land in their hometown and the family has been engulfed in alien fanfare ever since. He had several full ride scholarships for baseball, but opted to join the greatest division in baseball, even if it was for the Nine. Scouts were enamored with his three highly rated pitches: slider, changeup, and sinker.

In his first professional season, Chappel turned heads with a 1.72 ERA in rookie ball in 125.1 IP at the ripe age of 17. His 1.5 BB/9 showed he can improve since his control was his biggest issue in high school. He’s still got a lot of room to develop, but I believe he’ll be ready for the BBA in just a couple of years.

Went to the development lab to work on his movement and had an outstanding session, but didn't see his MOV ratings move, which is strange. He might not be ready for Single A, but we're gonna start him there to get some extra work in. I like this guy and anticipate him being a solid #2/3 for the Bluebirds one day.

I was a little disappointed to see Chappel regress in his stuff and control, but at least his potential movement increased (thanks dev lab). He's developing alright, but not sure he will be a top of the line starter. Hoping he picks up at least some control this season.

Seems like I am still struggling to draft high quality pitching despite top 5 picks. he's a regular but not a star.

Looks like Chappel could be a nice middle of the rotation starter, but suffered shoulder inflammation during spring training and will miss most of the season this year. Curious how this will affect him moving forward, but at worst I think he would be a great reliever.
