At Last: Cano, Gonzales Called Up to Nashville

Falling stars, shooting stars…what’s the difference? Well, in the case of the Nashville Bluebirds, when two stars fall to injury, two shooting stars emerge. It’s been a much anticipated debut for Jorge Canó and Alfonso Gonzáles. While many teams would be left devastated losing players of the caliber of Juan Rivera and Salvador Allende, the Bluebirds have replacements at the ready.
Jorge Canó is a power-hitting third baseman. While his glove is nowhere near the caliber of Allende, his bat is BBA ready. Canó joined the Bluebirds as a scouting discovery in 2048. Initially, Canó wasn’t much of a prospect, but by 2053 he had begun popping up on scout’s radars around the league. He eventually became the #1 ranked BBA prospect, though is currently ranked #10. He is slashing .268/.353/.551 this season in AAA with 30 HR and will add to an already potent offense ranked 1st in runs scored and 3rd in HR.
3B Jorge Canó
Gonzáles, ranked the #1 BBA prospect, has also been eagerly waiting promotion. The injury to Rivera has opened a spot for Gonzáles to step into his shoes and audition for a role as future Hall of Famer. What’s not to like about Gonzáles? He’s a true 5 tool player with other-worldly stats in AAA. While his hit tool still needs some polishing, it hasn’t slowed his results with a slash line of .315/.388/.591. On top of his 29 HR, Gonzáles has added 28 SB and totaled 7.5 WAR through just four months of the season. He’s got the skills to play CF, but with Crissy Tingle patrolling the real estate in CF, Gonzáles will play a corner outfield spot at a high level.
OF Alfonso Gonzáles
“It’s about time,” shouted excited fan, Hunter Cooper. “It’s hard to watch guys like Rivera go down, but man, we’ve been waiting to see these two guys for a long time. It’s bittersweet, but I’m really stoked.”
Cooper will among thousands of fans looking to catch the first homer of both young stars. The Bluebirds will face Yellow Springs, Madison, Bikini, Portland, Louisville, and Chicago, so the AAA pitching Canó and Gonzáles have been accustomed to shouldn’t be much different than their first few weeks at the BBA level.

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't true.

I don’t appreciate the niceties from Loserville. Makes me uncomfortable.
