Khayyat Isa may not get a lot of playing time, but management appreciates his leadership in the clubhouse and apparently his scouting ability. Despite not showing any baseball skill whatsoever, Bluebirds brass was convinced by Isa to sign the son of his father’s former teammate, Ra'id Usamah. A scout was sent to sign the 16 year old in May 2052 as a gesture to Isa. Usamah packed his bags and headed to the international complex to refine his skills, but has not been able to replicate his father’s success.

Scouts still think Usamah has the ability to play in the BBA one day based on his lineage and he was sent to Lynchburg to play rookie ball in 2053. He sucked. Usamah slashed .193/.256/.313 in 60 games. Still, scouts across the league suggest he has potential to be above average at all aspects of the game. The left-handed hitter has good contact, patience, and power and holds his own in the outfield with above average running skills. Time will tell with this raw player who seems to still be a few years away from being considered for the Bluebirds roster.

Usamah began the season overmatched at Single A to get some extra reps before rookie ball began. He did not fare well with a .524 OPS, but was able to muster a .650 OPS in rookie ball. He will likely see split time at the two levels again in 2055. Usamah is still very raw, and while an exciting prospect, will have a lot of maturing to do before he gets called up to the BBA. ETA 2058.

This guy isn't developing the way I'd hope. Tried to manipulate his development by playing him in A ball when he wasn't ready. The extra reps didn't help and the demotion to rookie ball once the season began just hurt his morale. Not giving up on him at 20 years old, though. Hopeful for a jump in development this season.

It's interesting there hasn't been more shake-up to your top prospect list. Partially that's a testament to the strength of this crop coming up thru the system now. I'll be interested to see who takes their place as they graduate over the next two seasons. I'd expect somebody from your IFA spending spree to shoot up.

Yeah, normally a few more guys would have graduated to the BBA, but there's just no room for a lot of them right now.

Now 21 and a little overmatched at Single A, Usamah really needs to start developing or his career could be in jeopardy. I really like his makeup and his LHB will be a welcome addition to our lineup. Was hoping he'd be a little more ready before Rivera retires so he can take his spot, but we'll have to wait and see.

I still like Usamah a lot. His left-handed bat is needed in Nashville's lineup, but he's struggling to develop. Really need to see him improve his bat to ball skills and hit the weight room this season. He's 22 and still in Single A. He played well last year, despite his ratings not looking up to par. It's safe to say I can't count on him being part of the future, but I still hope he develops and becomes a perennial all-star.
