Two Veterans Added to Bluebirds Rosters

The reigning champs opened the season with only 26 men on the roster. The most noticeable hole was a replacement DH versus LHP after the departure of Andrew Gallagher. The impact was noticeable after an embarrassing loss to the lowly Twin Cities River Monsters, who cleverly weaponized a AAAA southpaw to neutralize Nashville’s DH Matt Garrison. The trick worked well enough to keep the Bluebirds off the board early and they ultimately fell 5-4 in extra innings. With more than $10 million in cap space at their disposal, something had to be done.
Enter Bing-de Zhào. Fans were delighted upon the news that the veteran 1B/2B signed a one year deal with Nashville. Unfortunately, young batsman, Candy Saswata, will be moved to the bench, as Zhào figures to play 2B most days. Saswata will likely become the team’s new 1B versus LHP with young phenom, Wafid Bishr, moving to DH.

The club also signed veteran utility infielder, José Montaño to a one year deal. Montaño can play 2B, SS, and 3B well and should allow the regular infielders to get a break to stay healthy throughout the season. You might even see the veteran steal away at-bats from star SS Sammy ‘Bumper’ McNeill against LHP.

The club still has some spare change lying around, but will likely wait to spend until midseason in case of injury.
