Despite being in position to win the Heartland Division for the first time since 2025, the Nashville Bluebirds seem confident enough in their current squad to finish the job. While weaker teams such as the Sacramento Sad Popes made a slew of panic moves bringing in veteran star power, the Bluebirds remained disciplined and did not sell any key prospects. However, one questionable trade was made which should create little impact on the franchise.

“Nepotism is a live and well,” said GM Chad Nason. “We just missed out on drafting my son during this past amateur draft, so we brought him in for a player from or international complex. Brand grew up around the game and had all the best training made available to him, but he hasn’t quite figured it out yet.”

Scouts don’t have much intel on the kid, but he doesn’t expect to have a future in professional baseball. He can’t hit, throw, or play defense, but he’s got a pretty good eye which helped him draw walks at the high school level. More experienced pitchers realize they can just throw a fastball down the middle to get him out, though. He played 2B in high school, but only because of his dad’s ties. If lucky he will play 1B in rookie ball until he’s in his mid-20’s, but might last in rookie ball til his late-20’s if he stays at DH.

Will the Bluebirds regret not making a move to solidify their lineup? Time will tell, but there aren’t many holes that needed filling on the current roster. Nashville lost their lead atop the Heartland briefly, but have retaken the reins from Yellow Springs Nine. The Nine have an easy schedule the rest of the way and Nashville might be forced to play an additional round of playoffs.
