Garrison was selected with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round of the 2043 amateur draft by the Portland Lumberjacks after his draft stock slid due to concerns about being able to play the field. Now, 22, those concerns still linger, but his bat has developed into a dangerous weapon against right-handed pitching which might force his way into the lineup.
The Sturgeon, TN native was happy to hear the news he was returning closer to home after being traded from Portland to Nashville as part of the Lorenzo de’ Medici trade. He probably should have seen a chance to be the Bluebirds’ DH against RHP this season, but the team signed former Bluebird Ernesto Sousa to a two year deal to fill the position. Garrison will be an insurance piece in case a corner outfielder or first baseman goes down with an injury. Hopefully he can use the extra time at AAA to work on his defense and become a viable option in the outfield.
