Nashville’s Far East regional scouting director, Hon Jamm, has spent many years surveying Asia for BBA-level players. Jamm was very high on this kid from India, Candranibha Saswata. The Edmonton Jackrabbits ended up signing him to a $10.7M signing bonus to join their international complex, but Jamm never forgot what he saw on the street of Munger.

“The kids was on the street with a crowd around him,” said Jamm. “He was playing the hidden cup game with a piece of candy under one of three cups. His hand-eye coordination was impeccable. He was able to move those cups around so quickly and he was straight up swindling folks for lunch money. I knew those tools could relate to baseball and was absolutely bummed when we didn’t sign him. Frankly, I was surprised another team had a scout in the area.”

Saswata became a hot commodity amongst BBA prospects. He was traded to Las Vegas when Matt Rectenwald took the reins in Vegas. He remembered Jamm’s scouting report on Saswata from his days in Nashville. While Nashville and Vegas swapped their teams’ focuses, Rectenwald sent Saswata to Nashville in a deal for Kidane Ata.

Saswata, nicknamed “Candyman” based on his first name and his prior history of swindling, is a highly-touted prospect due to his ability to make contact. He constantly puts the ball in play and avoiding strikeouts is a huge plus in any scout’s eyes. Saswata hit .304 in 80 games with the Springdale Roosters last season. The second baseman would be ranked a lot higher on the scouting board, but he has ZERO career homeruns and doesn’t expect to contribute much, if at all, in that category. If his average defense improves, he is an all-star caliber player, despite his lack of power.

I bet he's great at cups. @shoeless.db would probably sell the franchise for him.

You can't seriously be thinking of him as a shortstop, are you?

Certainly not. Casualty of copy and pasting the format from McNeill. Fixed it. Thanks.

Had to change Makin, too. Not quite SS material.

Oh man, Nori Knuckles would've had a heyday with him on the streets during his Yakuza muscle days.
