Fans continue to be baffled by Bluebirds management with their latest acquisition, Juan Cerda. The Bluebirds have been in sell mode since April and sit 33.5 games behind first place, so acquiring a top reliever has left many puzzled.

“It’s been a rough season to watch these boys struggle again, for what looks like the near future, too,” said Bluebirds fan, Jimmy Nelson. “I’m glad to see Cerda join, though. He’s been unhittable against us this season so it’s good to see him on our side now.”

In exchange for Cerda, Nashville sent pitching prospect, Bill Meadows, who was selected in the first round on the 2045 amateur draft. Meadows, 22, has struggled against younger competition in the low minors and was demoted from single A to short A earlier this season. While scouts believe he has the potential to become a top of the rotation starter, Meadows has a long way to prove he is capable of pitching in the BBA at all. Nashville also received $5 million in cash considerations.

“We hope to be able to sign Juan to a long term extension,” said GM Chad Nason. “Having him and Román anchor the bullpen will be great, especially after trading de’ Medici for crucial rebuilding pieces.”

Cerda was originally drafted by the Nashville Goats in 2038 and shipped to Twin Cities in exchange for de' Medici. If Nashville is unable to extend Cerda, this will likely be seen as a loss. If the team continues to struggle next season, don't be surprised if Cerda is on the move again to a contender. However, even a compensation pick should help replenish the loss of Meadows.
