In a follow-up move to the Nashville flash sale, Bluebirds fans will be mourning the loss of beloved LHP Lorenzo de’ Medici. The perennial all-star was shipped off to the Portland Lumberjacks in a move that all but eliminates Nashville’s playoff hopes. Tears were shed across the clubhouse as teammates said their goodbyes to the Italian phenom who has been with the club since 2039.

“This stings,” says C Alberto Rodríguez. “When Enzo came into the game, everyone was on their feet waiting for him to finish off the game with his magical fastball/curveball combo. He’s one of the best in the league and he will be missed, but it’s part of the business. I hope these young bucks can really contribute to a championship in the near future.”

Portland GM, Chris Wilson, is being lauded for his tremendous acquisition and will be a candidate for GM of the Year if the Lumberjacks can sneak into the playoffs, however this move is for the future with Wilson saying “This is a move for 2047. Hoping that the addition of de’ Medici with Chris Thompson and my recent draft pick give me a staff that can compete in the Pacific in 2047.”

Nason has been an active participator in trades across the BBA since he came over from Kuwait City in 2043, but his moves have often been met with criticism and lack of results on the field. This latest move is filled with uncertainty after trading the 2043 Steve Nebraska runner-up for a trio of questionable prospects, headlined by Hasheem Makin. While the BBA ranks him as the #19 overall prospect in the BBA, many doubt his immense power potential will ever come to fruition due to his ability to make contact. Nashville will also receive LF Matt Garrison and 3B Steve Hooper , both of whom do not project to be impactful BBA players.

“Not sure how they run things in the Middle East, but here in the Midwest we tend to like keeping our best players,” said long time Bluebirds fan, Peyton Brooks. “I read El Paso traded GMs with a UMEBA team and I think we need to do the same. Send ‘em back where he came from,” the furious fan continued.

de’ Medici has compiled 39 wins, 122 saves, and 1,370 strikeouts as a Bluebird.

If Makin turns into an 80 player, you'll be ok in the end. This one all boils down to Makin and that 6 contact.

FWIW, when I submitted in game, Kate Fiscus hated the deal and advised I ask for more. Or course, she usually does demand more of me.

I think she was referring to inches. Not willing to trade those.

She knows what she wants.

Another consideration is the added development options in the new version. It could mitigate some of the risk on a guy like Makin if you have more control over his development. Of course who knows how well it will be implemented.

That will be interesting to see, but I'm not banking on it making a big difference.

Yeah for sure. It's a complete unknown.
