Bluebirds Pitcher Impressing as Pitchers and Catchers Report

The Nashville Bluebirds
Are coming off another disappointing season without baseball in October and with salary cap restraints, it didn’t look like there was going to be much excitement leading into the 2046 season. Pundits agree to expect another solid season from the Birds, only to be left out of postseason play again. What could change their fate and push them over the edge this season?

Barney Lindsay. Yes, the same Barney Lindsay that began the season in Nashville’s bullpen only to be sent down to AAA Orlando a few weeks later because the southpaw couldn’t send right-handed batters back to the dugout unless they hit a homerun. But the young lefty is still just 21 years old and with the help of newly appointed Orland pitching coach, Elliot ‘Snow God’ Buckland, chatter is heating up surrounding camp.

“Barney was the first person to welcome me to the staff when I was signed,” said Buckland. “He wanted to get started with an offseason training regimen before reporting for spring training. I was impressed by his dedication to improve, to say the least.”

Lindsay began turning heads when scouts and reporters watched his first bullpen session with a noticeable uptick on his fastball velocity, but what was more impressive was a new trick in his bag. Lindsay debuted his vastly improved wipeout changeup that will make even the most experienced right-handed hitters look like amateurs.

“Snowy really helped me get into the best shape of my life and helped me get that extra oomph on my fastball and then switch speeds with the changeup. I want to prove I belong in the BBA and will do everything I can to avoid going back to minor league bus rides and motels," said Lindsay.

Lindsay’s newly improved repertoire will create an interesting competition amongst the current starters. The lefty may very well see himself begin the season in the rotation and it looks like he has the goods to stay. OF course, bullpen sessions are one thing, but it’s entirely different facing live batters. Regardless of the outcome, it’s nice to have a little hope in Nashville as the team has only made the postseason once since 2026.

I was so jealous of @sjshaw when Mercati got the next level bump. Lindsay got his the following sim and I swear I couldn't stop looking at his player page in disbelief.
