2044 was a blessed season in the training room, with very few injuries and can be attributed to much of the Nashville Bluebirds’s success. However, the injury bug struck early this season as RF Pedro Mendoza will miss approximately six weeks with a fractured finger after being hit in the hand while batting against San Fernando Bears pitcher, Tadamichi Ando. Fortunately, Mendoza was the least injured of the two at the end of the inning, as Ando was later found out to have a partially torn UCL and is expected to miss the rest of the season, at least.
RF Pedro Mendoza
Mendoza was acquired from the Las Vegas Hustlers last season in hopes of adding another power bat in the outfield. For his short 47 game career, he has a slash line of .270/.329/.509 including 10 HR. Fortunately, Nashville was able to claim OF Pierangelo Ferri off waivers from Hawaii Tropics. The timing of Ferri’s pickup eerily foreshadowed Mendoza’s injury, but he will be a nice fill in whether starting in RF or coming off the bench. Ferri doesn’t have much BBA playing time, but they feel he can be a decent enough bat off the bench and provide adequate defending in the corners of the outfield and more importantly, add depth for injuries such as Mendoza’s. "I'm excited to see some Brewster pitching. I've been waiting for my time and I feel I'll be able to step in wherever the Bluebirds need me," said Ferri. Aside from Ferri, you can expect more ABs from veterans Gipper Kengos and Nacho Méndez versus RHP.

Nashville also lost C Ramón Camacho in waivers to the Portland Lumberjacks.
