Fans were delighted when Chad Nason re-acquired 2B Jesús Yan last week. After swimming through the horde of fans at Berry Field Nashville, Yan got into his car service and made sure his first stop in town was his favorite BBQ joint, Jack’s Bar-B-Que. Although he slumped while in Vegas, a little bit of home cooking did Yan well.

Yan was immediately plugged into the Bluebirds lineup and did not disappoint. In his first game back with Nashville, Yan slapped three hits and scored a run against Madison Wolves in the 6-0 victory. The Bluebirds returned home to host a three game set against the Omaha Cyclones with 20,000 bumper stickers waiting for Jesus’ fans. In his first game back, Yan stepped to the plate against Omaha’s newly signed ace, Aki Kondo, in the third inning and received a two minute standing ovation until umpires resumed play. Disturbed by the long ovation, Kondo drilled Yan with an 0-2 fastball right in his ribs and drew much ire from the Nashville dugout and fans. Yan made his way to first base unscathed. Yan reached on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning and swiped second base, setting up Nacho Méndez to knock him in to score with a double into left field. Yan got a base hit in the seventh inning and had a storybook opportunity to win the game as he came to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but proceeded to popup and send the game into extra innings where the Cyclones proceeded to hand Martin Román his first loss of the season.

The Bluebirds headed to Iowa to take on the Kernels and Yan continued to impress. In last night’s game, Yan was 3 for 5 with two solo homeruns, his first two of the season. Yan ended the week with a .364/.440/.636 line, including two dingers. He proved to be a menace on the basepaths with two stolen bases and a wizard in the field, with +0.9 ZR in his flawless week’s work at 2B. He accrued 0.5 WAR in his five games back with Nashville and morale seems to be boosted all around.

“We ballin’ right now, man. We was already playing good and then when we got Jesus back? Shiiit, man. With the atmosphere at Les Paul Field, I think we got a good chance to win it all with the squad, yo,” said star 3B Tony Frost.

After tonight’s finale in Des Moines, the Bluebirds return home to host the Vancouver Mounties and Valencia Stars this week. Nashville is currently in second place in the Heartland division, six games behind Yellow Springs Nine, but good enough for a wildcard position.

Oh shut up. You know you’re happy for him. I’m just happy he’s increasing his trade value for when you come crawling back for him.
