Nashville Brings Back Familiar Face

Nashville Bluebirds fans will see a familiar face in the lineup tonight as they go for a sweep in Madison. Making his return to the lineup card and playing 2B is Jesús Yan, who was trade to the Las Vegas Hustlers in the offseason. Funnily enough, Yan was acquired for 2B Phil Logan, after both players were involved in the seven player swap on New Year’s Day.
2B Jesús Yan
Yan has seen his share of struggles this season and was eventually demoted to Vegas’s AAA affiliate earlier this month. He was clearly disappointed with his performance at the plate, but Yan is as sure handed at 2B as they come and expects his offensive numbers to bounce back from his wretched .103/.171/.155 slash line.
“I am very glad to be back in Nashville. I really feel at home now and I think it will improve my performance. I’m glad we didn’t close escrow on my home yet. I was able to cancel the contract with the buyers in return for season tickets for the rest of the season,” says Yan.
Nashville players seem to be happy with the return of the second baseman, as well.
“I’m stoked to have Jesús back, man. He’s hella sick up the middle and saves a lot of balls from getting to the outfield. He’s my kinda player,” said pitcher Chris Moran. “I’ve had way too many balls get through the infield this year and it’s hurting my numbers. Jesús is, like, my savior,” chuckled Moran.
Logan was having a good year at the plate on his side of the platoon. His .273/.318/.421 line was more than expected and he played well in the field, but he is no Jesús Yan. There’s just something about Yan that the fans love and as a pending free agent at the end of the season, there will be turmoil if he isn’t offered a contract. In celebration of Yan's return, Nashville is giving away bumper stickers to the first 20,000 fans in attendance at Friday's game against the Omaha Cyclones. It's rumored to be the same bumper sticker on the back of former GM, Matt Rectenwald.
