After firing Daniel Labrie, Jr. just after the start of the season and replacing him with then pitching coach Mike Ellison, Nashville GM Matt Rectenwald has now changed course again. "Nothing against Mike, he's a great guy and we value him as a part of the team," explained Rectenwald. "Mike, being more focused on pitching and having never managed, just couldnt help us get the offense going. After talking with Mike he agreed to move back to his pitching coach role. Ironically, the man he replaced as pitching coach will now be taking over as the Bluebirds manager. Happy to announce that we've promoted Horace "Dome" Young back to the bigs, and he's the new manager of the Nashville Bluebirds.

Young, unlike Ellison, does have two years of managing experience in the Nashville system. At 61 years old, he's going to be a stabilizing force for the team that still hasn't quite found itself this year. He's a jovial guy who the Bluebirds should love and his smallball philosophy does fit a bit better with the front office's vision of the team.

"Happy to be back," Young said. "Now let's go win some games. Time to unleash this team to its full potential."

Is was that or, as a fellow golfer, I knew you'd appreciate some sort of reverse Stewart Cink reference.
