As we enter the last week of the 2039 regular season, the Goats maintain a 1.2% chance at making the playoffs for the first time in a generation. While some organizations scoff at the Goats clinging to a .500 record, Nashville fans, well, they dont really seem to care. Fan Interest in the team is actually down for the season, even in these last few weeks with Divisional teams coming in and the Goats still having a shot at the playoffs. With his impending departure coming up, GM Golden has decided to address the Nashville media this one last time.
GM Golden: Thank you both for coming. I'll be brief - this is a great place. I think a few more seasons here and we would be where we had pledged we would be. Matt Rectenwald is a great GM. He's been in Vegas for a long time and built a dynasty there. I have no doubt he will do the same here for this wonderful town and fans. Of course, at least for the next 2-4 years, I'm still going to take credit for a lot of things, but Matt will be great in his own regard. This team is a whole lot different than when I took over 5 seasons ago and I think its on the right path. The GM before me, well, he didnt leave us in a great financial situation and as any GM around here can attest to, this league is all about the money. Money gives you a chance to do great things in the BBA and without it, its hard to be creative and build a team and an organization. There are 4 more home games. I'll be here for the boys and will be cheering for this team.I hope the whole city shows up. I'll take one question.
Olsen: Mr. Golden....
Golden: Olsen, you really thought you had a shot here. Shut the hell up and sit back down. Hooper...any questions?
Hooper: Yes. Its a two-part question as well. First, do you feel like The Plan® worked here in Nashville? And, will you be sharing The Plan® with Mr. Rectenwald or will you be taking it with you?
Golden: Good question Hooper. Tell you what, finish high school and come on over to Charlotte. I'll make sure you've got a job there one way or another.
Golden: Well, The Plan® was working. After the first 2-3 seasons, we invoked an contingency part of The Plan® because, well, things were just not going as well as we had hoped. This season, you are starting to see The Plan® starting to pay off a little. I thought we almost had it this season. We made a pretty bold move at the deadline and if the deadline were a couple of weeks earlier, those moves would have paid off and we would be in the payoffs, not a doubt in my mind.
Golden: And for all those naysayers out there that were laughing at me looking for a corner outfielder - we mock what we dont understand. There have been a lot of people making assumptions about the Goats every season I've been here, and they've pretty much all been way off at the end of the season. Sure, a couple were giving us more credit than we deserved but they were still off. Nobody knows better than the man with The Plan®. And yes, I'll be taking The Plan® with me.The expansion draft will be interesting, but at least we will be choosing our own team to start with as opposed to showing up a month into the season with a team that was handed to us. Beware the Cougars!!
