The Goat Rope 2038.2

Post by GoldenOne » Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:42 pm

The Managing Editors at The Goat Rope have been looking around the league and noticed a lot of other publications have provided their fams with a season preview. In an effort to increase circulation, The Goat Rope has decided to produce a special edition, The Goats Season Preview. Yes, you're probably thinking to yourself, not another 10+ part series of dribble. We've heard there is a premium on new content and the Goats like to give the people what they want. So, here is the Season Preview for the 2038 Season of the Nashville Goats:

Infield:
Same roster as last season. To start with, we are going to move Jesus Mojica over to 1st since his defense is a little better and he will be playing every day. Righty killer, Miguel 'Bad Moon' Suárez will be the DH versus RHP while the aging Dani López will fill the DH spot against leftiies. Everyone else will stay the same. Oh yeah, they did sign a very exciting back-up Catcher in Colby Stephens. Did we say exciting? Well, at least he can play some Defense and can run the bases really well.

Outfield:
Same. Nobody really changes. Silk winner Justin 'The Scout' Jackson sticks in LF. Abdelwahab 'Gasoline' Kamade will be back in CF. As for RF, well, the team has been trying to get rid of these guys but until that happens, you'll see both Arthur Norris and Harold Smith out there trying to get the pretty ladies to meet them after the game.

Starting Pitching:
Again, nothing to see here. Nothing new, same deal as last season. That's not entirely true but that is mainly because nobody knew from day-to-day what the rotation was going to look like. There was 12 different guys that started games last season! Arturo Cruz was lost for the season after 11 starts. His elbow was healed enough to start throwing in January and then 8 pitches (yes, EIGHT pitches) into the very first Spring Training game of the seaosn, he decided to tear his tricep. We'll see him back around the All Star break. León Ramírez looked to get back into the rotation after being moved to the Closer role after José Luna tore his labrum in May, but then he decided it would be more fun to tear an elbow ligament at the end of last September. Maybe he gets back around the All Star break? The main hope for the rotation lies with Heinrich 'Cajun' Peithner. Perhaps his new, friendly 6-year deal means he has finally settled in here in Nashville and can start producing more like we are used to seeing from him. Other than that, like we said, its all the same....the rotation rotates. Oh, there is a chance that we see Knud Zeitler show up after his recovery from a torn UCL in a couple of months. No doubt someone else will end up on the 120+ day DL at some point. Maybe the Goats get him a start or two in AAA and then bring him up to have some fun with Huntsville.

Relief Pitching:
Pretty much the same as the starting rotation - who the hell knows what's going on here. The late innings, whether it was a close game or not, usually meant a huge pucker factor last season. Especially late last season. As mentioned though , Closer Jose Luna is back so that should help. The young RP with a great 2036 (yes, 2036) under his belt, Francisco Reyna found some magic elixir back home in Puerto Rico and recovered from his elbow ligament reconstruction surgery almost 3 months early. Other than that, same old mix of your average Joes.

There you have it. All the Goats need to do now is continue to provide offense at 20-30 points below their normal production (minus a few stars, of course) and reach the 20+ pitchers rotating through the Clubhouse and the 2038 season should be as much fin as the 2037 season.

Magic elixer in San Juan results in coming back from injury 3 months early? We better get the drug testers down to Nashville stat.
