Goats of the Month - July
The Nashville Goats finished the month of July with an increasingly disappointing record of 11-15. Somehow the Goats still find themselves only 4 games out of a Wild Card spot at the end of the month although with 4 teams between them and the final spot. The feeling in Nashville was that the recent trade for Heinrich 'Cajun' Peithner and waiver claim of Pavel Bure, Jr. would help with the pitching issues enough to allow Nashville's offense to win some games. That hasnt seemed to have happened yet. With that in mind, here are your Goats of the Month for July:
Offense:
The offensive POM for June goes to the Goats' SS Tu-fu 'The Beast' Yong. The 25yo Yong finished July with a .308/.362/.654 slash line, with 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 HRs, scoring 21 runs and knocking in 23 RBI. Yong led the way for the Goats against the Mexico City on 27 July with a 3 HR performance at Les Paul Field.
Pitcher:
The pitcher of the month for June goes to the Goats' Starting Pitcher, Francisco Luna. The 22yo Luna led the way by finishing July with a 4-1 record after 5 starts, his 26 Ks to 13 Walks and 30 hits (3 HR) given up through 34.2 innings led to his 2.08 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, outpacing the rest of his team and led him to be the Goats Pitcher of the Month for July.
