The Goat Rope 2036.2

Post by GoldenOne » Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:50 pm

GM Golden is heading into his second full season at the helm of the Nashville Goats. As we've seen since he took over, Golden has had some surprises up his sleeves and we expect nothing less in 2036. With that in mind, Let's meet your Opening Day starting roster for your 2036 Nashville Goats!

Rotation: Although there were "experts" out there that projected the starting rotation to consist of Atsumori Maeda, Jonathan Frank, Nicholas Sutton, Kidanu Cherono, and a TBD (granted this was before Nashville's last trade with Calgary), that list only hit on one pitcher! Nashville's OD rotation consists of Francisco Luna, Alfredo Perales, Maeda, Erhard Linder, Randall Thomas, and Arturo Cruz. That's right, Nashville is looking to implement a 6-man rotation to begin the season. Although, it remains to be seen where Nicholas Sutton fits into the plans once he comes off the DL in a couple of weeks.

Bullpen: With Armando Figueroa on the DL for another 2 months, Frank is expected to find himself closing out games again. Setting up Frank will be Cherno and future closer-in-waiting, Francisco Reyna. Hold-overs in the Pen from the 2035 season include Miroslav Tomanek and long-man Wu-han Liu. Brought over in the Calgary trade is lefty specialist Paul Roldan. Roldan will be expected to play a big role this season against some of those lefty-heavy teams in the JL Southeast. That leaves Jesse Howard and José Luna.

Catchers: No shockers here, Xie-li Luo will be the main man behind the dish with Juan Guerrero there to spell Luo from time to time and as a defensive replacement.

Infield: 1B - While Raymond Aguilera is back from being the mainstay at 1B last season, upstart Miguel Suárez will be the everyday starter. 2B- The speculation at 2B turns out to be correct; both Andre Wellington and Pedro Gómez will be splitting duties here with Gomez seeing action against righties and Wellington for the lefties. SS- The SS position is being handed to the 23yo rookie, Voitto Strömberg. While Strömberg still has some development that is expected from him, we'll be watching him get his chances at Les Paul Field. 3B- The speculation at 3B was that the Hot Corner would be manned by Jesús Mojica. Well, it turns out that Mojica had Options left and GM Golden liked what he saw a little more from Barney Everhart so he will be the one to get the nod for OD 2036. But dont be surprised when you see Gomez in there against lefties

Outfield: GM Golden brought in a lot of new faces for the Outfield this off-season but its no surprise that newly acquired, and his new 5-year contract, Abdelwahab 'Gasoline' Kamade will be a mainstay in CF for years to come. 21yo Justin Jackson had a cup of coffee in 2034 and excited everyone in Nashville. In 2035, Jackson had a rough start to the season but came on strong at the end. We expect big things as Jackson sees himself starting in RF this season. LF will see Elijah Curry roaming around for the most part. Switch-hitting RF Charles Perkins will see his name on the lineup card in the DH slot most of the time.

Super Utility While listed as a Center Fielder, Raúl Miranda will have to have several different gloves in his locker as he is expected to play almost any position at any time. Miranda is slated as a back-up, in one form or another, at every position except catcher and first base.

We're expecting big things from this lineup of Goats. Maybe not big things like a Landis or even a playoff berth at this point, but 15-20 more wins most definitely would qualify as a big thing for GM Golden and The Plan.

A 6 man rotation always warms my heart. Keeping an eye on some former sugar kings/bears on this roster, including a sleeper of mine in Francisco Luna. I didn't like having to trade him, think he could be a solid mid rotation game for years.

You've got some great young players. I hope this is the start of the climb.
