Shenani-Goats 2034.01

Post by GoldenOne » Thu Mar 22, 2018 12:36 pm

New Goats GM Brett Golden is quickly doing his homework and making his presence known across the Nashville system:

19yo CF Grant Lee (8/8/9/5/7) - The 2033 1st-round pick (#3 overall) has continued crushing the ball for AA Chula Vista. After skyrocketing from Short A into A in 2033, Piglet Lee started the season in AA where he has spent the first 44 games hitting .299/.413/.527. With the near Mendoza-like hitting at the Major League club, GM Golden has moved the youngster up to AAA Montgomery in the hopes that the veterans can hear the footsteps behind them and get them motivated.

33yo Fan Favorite Joe "Million Dollar" Wilcox (8/7/8/6/7) - Wilcox's .204/.283/.321 was not endearing to GM Golden. His .989 Fielding Percentage in 38 games was not enough to let him slide any longer either. Wilcox has been replaced in the lineup by the newly promoted 29yo Roberto Perez. In limited action with AAA Montgomery following his return from the DL, Perez was hitting .298/.375/.719. If Perez can continue those numbers, or even match his 2033 season with Nashville of .277/.338/.400, Wilcox will have a lot of work to do to get back on the field.

And dont look now but despite several scouts saying almost a third of the team is over-matched at the Short A level, the Santo Domingo Scouts are off to a blistering 12-2 start of the season. Minus almost any power (12th in the league), the Scouts do rank in the top 3 in almost all other offensive categories and 1st in 8 of the 10 pitching categories. And that is before the 2034 1st-round pick (#3 overall) 17yo Franklin Pierce (13/8/6 Potential) has thrown an inning for the team. GM Golden has been overheard (jokingly?) saying that he "just might promote the whole team if they keep this up."

While little is known about the new GM in Nashville, he certainly isnt one to shy away from making noise.

A platoon for Wilcox/Perez wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Perez vRHP, Wilcox vLHP (with Perez as the late-inning, defensive replacement)
