Hawks Nest, v28.5 - Top Rule 6 selection

The Halifax Hawks held the 4th overall pick in the 2028-2029 Rule 6 draft and planned on selecting the best available player when their pick came up. With the likes of Tucson, Valencia and Havana in front of us it was assumed we would need to get to our 3rd or 4th player on our list. The front office was ecstatic when the top 3 teams elected to not select a player.

With the 4th overall selection Halifax selected SP Carlino Omoboni.

The team had the 26 year old righty at the top of their wish list. He has 7/6/9 potential ratings with 7/6/8 actuals vs R’s and L’s. His pitches are led by a 8 rated cutter and 7 rated curveball. He also has a 5 rated splitter and a 3 rated changeup. All of his pitches are offspeed and he tops out at 92-94 MPH. He has high intelligence and has leadership ability.

In his 4 year career with Paris he holds a 13-13 record with a 3.24 ERA. However, he only started games his last season which he compiled 31 starts and went 9-12 with a 3.48 ERA. The team expects him to compete for the 5th starter position in spring and would be ecstatic if he can prove himself.
