The Hawks had another rough season in 2028 and finished last in the woeful JL Atlantic with an overall record of 66-96. There were a few bright spots on the team as not all was bad. The players of the year are as follows;
Batter of the Year
C Elroy Hinson - .313/18/85
Hinson had another great season for the Hawks in ’28. His batting average of .313 lead the team as did his walks total (74) and OPS (.882). His 5.8 WAR was easily the best on the team and Hinson has shown that he is a very dependable player. He has been between a 4.3 and 7.2 WAR in each of the last 7 seasons and has been very good behind the plate as well.
Pitcher of the Year
SP Martin Lewis – 8-8, 3.02 in 22 starts
This award was a bit more difficult in that the entire staff had a rough season. There were really no great performances and Lewis was the best of the bunch even considering he was injured for a good part of the season. As is he went 8-8 and had the second lowest ERA of any pitcher on the team (Jose Perucho has a 1.95 ERA).
Rookie of the Year
1B Albert Tas - .235/23/95
Tas is the Rule 6 pickup from Rome and isn’t a rookie in the traditional sense. However, it was his first Monty season and he fared decently. His batting average was a bit low but he did provide some much needed power from the hot corner.
