July 1 - The Bobwhites go 11-16 this month and are still in the cellar of the JL Atlantic. They continue to hit well but the pitching is still a massive problem. Their defense is the worst in the league and looking at their prospects there appears to be no pitchers coming up the pipeline. Not sure what the Bobwhites are going to do with the draft coming up but they really need some pitching help. We'll see what they can select to help turn this franchise around. Everyone knows that pitching wins championships so why hasn't GM Manuel tried to draft pitchers or trade for them?

Washington Pitcher of the Month: SP - Richard Mazzola

Mazzola is having a nice year...not dominant but a nice year nonetheless and in June he went 2-2 in 5 starts. Richard posted a great 2.77 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and struck out 34 batters in 39.0 innings. If only the others on the staff could be that good.

Bobwhite Bopper of the Month: DH Don Fletcher

It was hard for me to pick someone this month as no player on the roster really did much to impress me so Fletcher here wins after batting .292 in June and slugging .514. It wasn't a noteworthy month for any hitter, I almost shouldn't have awarded anyone.

Its crazy how remarkably consistent (ly good) Mazzola has been... especially pitching as a RHP with a negative split vs. LHB in a park that gives the latter such a boost. Randall and Morrill have busted (though both are still servicable ML pieces), but Drew is a solid positive contributor and Hopkins is looking really sexy right now... that Ritchie trade seems to have worked out quite well for you - if it hadn't of eventually gotten me Hoffman I'd probably want a mulligan! :P

I agree, the trade has worked out quite well for me despite my initial reluctance to pull the trigger.
